WSU Internationalization
WSU is a member of the 20th cohort of the American Council on Education (ACE) Internationalization Laboratory.
An essential part of our commitment to WSU students is to provide them with the education and experiences necessary to help them be successful in an increasingly interconnected world. ACE Lab will help us document and amplify the our global engagement in research, scholarship, and student experiences and skills.
“A globally engaged university is imperative if we expect our students to compete on the world stage. WSU is engaged in academic, research and development collaborations around the world. ACE Lab will help us quantify the vast scope of our work abroad. With this knowledge, we can better allocate resources, leverage our presence and make a greater impact on the future wherever we are.”
What is internationalization?
In our commitment to contribute toward a better future around the world, with forethought and intention WSU is increasing our engagement with globalization, which is the movement and interdependency of ideas, people, goods, capital, services, and organizations – as well as threats such as environmental and health challenges – across borders.
Why is internationalization important?
- Internationalization prepares WSU students to compete and thrive in a global era. By learning about the world at large and how to live in it, students will be more attractive to employers looking for workers who can navigate different markets and cultures.
- Faculty, staff, researchers, and administrators will be better equipped to create and sustain relationships with others outside the U.S. to the benefit of themselves, WSU, our state, our country and the world.
- WSU’s global standing will rise, attracting students and allowing Cougars the opportunity to do more good in the world.
