Dear Colleagues,
Yesterday, we honored the late Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. This holiday presents an opportunity for us all to reflect on Dr. King’s legacy. A leader committed to the betterment of society through equity and justice, Dr. King reminds us of the power we have — individually and collectively — to propel change in support of equity. I encourage you all to participate in acts of service this week and throughout the year. Every act makes a difference. Please also view the events scheduled throughout the spring dedicated to honoring Dr. King. I hope you can attend some or all of the events, and I look forward to seeing you there.
Today, on the National Day of Racial Healing, we have another opportunity to expand our individual and collective growth. While we have come far as a society, we have a long way to go to truly achieve equity. The day’s activities provide avenues for conversation, reflection, and healing. I hope that we can use today to come together to find ways to combat racism through community building. Please join in the events today and share your experience on social with #HowWeHealWSU.
In closing, I want to thank you for your ongoing support of our students and each other. Your commitment to lifting each other up is what inspires me every day.
Be well,
Elizabeth
