WA Governor Inslee’s statewide order requiring face coverings

  • June 24, 2020

Governor Inslee announced yesterday, June 23, 2020, that starting Friday, June 26, 2020, a statewide face covering order will take effect.  Individuals will be legally required to wear a face covering when in a public space.  This applies to indoor public space, or in an outside public space when unable to physically distance from others. For more on the statewide face covering mandate, visit the Washington State Coronavirus Response (COVID-19) website.

Prior communications from Human Resource Services regarding the June 8, 2020, Safe Start Washington: Phased Reopening employer requirements are still applicable.  All WSU employees, reporting to any WSU work location, are required to wear face coverings when in the presence of others and in public settings. As an employer, WSU will provide face coverings to employees for use while the employee is working at a WSU work location, however employees may choose to wear their own personal cloth face covering as long as they meet appropriate guidelines. Areas are encouraged to source face coverings through normal University purchasing processes. Additionally, WSU’s Design and Printing Serviceswill have WSU-branded, reusable cloth face coverings available for purchase, in late July, from the WSU Online Promotional Items store.
