COUGS HELP COUGS STAY HEALTHY

As a WSU system, each of our campuses are responding to the evolving COVID-19 situation depending on their needs. WSU Pullman is home to our largest population and provides a full residential experience.
In an effort to increase social distancing, Governor Inslee placed statewide restrictions impacting WSU Pullman’s ability to provide that full residential experience. Restrictions were placed on food services, required temporary closure of recreational and social spaces, as well as prohibited many student engagement opportunities we would typically offer. Gatherings over 50 are also not allowed.
Most recently, our Whitman County Department of Health officials strongly encouraged us to share this message with our students: If you can stay at your permanent residence, please do so.
We are asking our Cougar community to take collective action to honor those restrictions and guidance which are designed to slow the transmission of COVID-19 and ease the burden on Pullman’s limited and rural health care infrastructure, including Cougar Health Services.
If you are currently in Pullman, or NEED to return immediately, you can stay in Pullman.

Many of you consider Pullman your home. We will continue to serve Cougs for as long as we are able. Services are limited.
Dining Services is ONLY providing limited food options via delivery and to-go options. Food pantries will be available. Cougar Health Services will be open.
We need to know if you are coming back. Please tell us by filling out the Post Spring Break Plans form here.

If you don’t need to come back immediately, please WAIT to return to Pullman.

Stay where you are, if you are able. This is for your own health and the health of our communities, including our entire Cougar community of students, staff, and faculty.
If you are sick, remain where you are and call your health care professional for guidance.
As we receive more information from federal, state, and local authorities, we will continue to send weekly updates via your WSU email.
We know you have questions. Given the fluid nature of this event, we do not have all of the answers yet related to residence halls or other resources.

Campus employment is important for many of you. WSU Pullman is committed to providing opportunities for our student employees when available.
This may include alternative work projects or working remotely while other positions may require you to be physically present. Please contact your supervisor to learn of available options, including whether you need to be on campus to continue your employment.

I know this is a difficult time, filled with anxiety about the unknown. It is important to remember that we have always made it through by working together. We thrive when we support each other. We are here for you, even if it can’t be in person. Please reach out and ask for help.
