Luke Hornbelt, Henry VIII King of England, 1509-1547. Henry VIII dissolved the English fealty to the Catholic Church and named himself the head of the Church of England in the 1520's. Although the church retained Catholic ceremonies and doctrine, Henry was essentially the first monarch to establish his country as a fully Protestant country.
