New and renovated residence halls in the works.
A planned $200 million, 10-year facelift of Washington State University's residence halls took another step forward May 1 when the University broke ground for construction of a 229-bed, $26 million student housing project.

The new residence hall-to be located just east of McEachern Hall-is the first to be built on the Pullman campus since 1972. The new building is expected to welcome its first student residents in fall 2009.
New standard for residential life
The facility will set a new standard of quality for residential life, offering flexibility to adapt to students' changing needs while reflecting WSU's commitments to sustainability and enhancing the student experience.
The overall construction plan is designed to give students a variety of housing options and to provide open, public spaces that encourage student interaction.
Several projects upcoming
The new facility will be the most visible of several upcoming residence hall projects.
Renovation of the south and east towers of Stephenson Hall will be completed during the summer. Stephenson's north tower and McEachern Hall are slated to be refurbished for fall 2009, with Regents and Scott/Coman halls to follow in fall 2010.
Two additional halls planned
Long-term plan calls for construction of two additional residence halls in the southwestern part of campus for fall 2012 and fall 2015.
All of the projects will be funded through bonds and student residence hall fees.
